· Winner of the Champions of the Earth for the region of Africa. This is an international environment award, presented each year by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to outstanding environmental leaders·WWW.UNEP.org/champions/winners
· A member of the IPCC team of experts who have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, 2007, along with Al Gore, and was invited to participate in the Awarding Ceremony in Oslo, Norway 10 to 11 December 2007.
· Lead Author in the 4th.Assessment Report and many other IPCC reports and technical papers
· A Coordinating Lead Author on the International Assessment of Agricultural Science and Technology for Development (IAASTD) Global Assessment report.
· A Coordinating Lead Author on the paper on Forests Adaptation to Climate Change , United Nations Forum on Forests,
· A member in many international Boards and Scientific Committees including:
· Vice Chair, Advisory Board Climate Change Adaptation in Africa Research and Capacity Development Programme (CCAA)
· A member of the Science Committee of the International Human Dimension Program on Global Environmental Change (IHDP), ICSU, UNU, ISSC
· A member of the Scientific and Technical Committee of the National Environmental surveillance mechanism in (Algeria, Mali, Niger and Tunisia) of the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS)
